3Bohemians bring Hollywood storyteller Mike Cachuela to Prague

Storytelling has been an innate part of human culture and our perception of the world for millennia. Storytelling is in our DNA. We want to be part of stories. We want to them to make us laugh, to make us cry, to make us think, dream, fall in love. Good marketing is also built on stories, and everybody involved in the conception and realisation of marketing becomes a storyteller. However, there still aren’t that many amazing stories in advertising. It is high time, therefore, to take a look behind the curtain of Hollywood, where storytelling is exceptionally successful.

Creatives, brand marketers and ad directors will have the opportunity to acquire inspiration at a one-day Storytelling Masterclass that takes place in Prague on 25 July 2017. Mike Cachuela, who will be helming it, is genuinely at the top of his profession as a screenwriter and author of film stories. He has worked for PIXAR and DISNEY and collaborated with such visionary directors as Henry Selick, Tim Burton, Brad Bird and John Lasseter, as well as for the DREAMWORKS and LAIKA studios. He will share his valuable experience of storytelling in Prague, with his one-day workshop set to focus on the essence of what evokes reactions and emotions among audiences, so necessary for the successful building of brands’ stories.

The idea of running a workshop on storytelling arose at the 3BOHEMIANS animation production company and studio, which is organising its ANOMALIA summer school of animation again this year.

“For 10 years we’ve been bringing professionals from US animation studios to the Czech Republic, where they share their know-how with young animators and filmmakers. This summer we’re again opening an incubator for story development and design conception of animated feature-length and serial projects: ANOMALIA Story and Concept Art Labs. At the same time, it’s natural that the subject of storytelling should appeal to professionals in the field of advertising and brand marketers, because they too have to be able to use story-based approaches in order to engage by means of short stories filled with emotion. It is an opportunity to take inspiration from the people behind feature films that have been hits around the world,” says Marek Toušek, one of the workshop’s organisers.

The Be part of a BIG STORY Storytelling Masterclass will take place with the support of the Czech and German Art Directors Club.
